About Ned Wells.
I help social and environmental impact organisations to grow. I do this through a distinctive combination of strategic nous, business experience, and technical marketing expertise.
Ned who?
Hi, I’m Ned Wells. I come with 30-ish years of varied business experience, starting as a manufacturing engineer, a management consultant with PwC and then as head of strategy at a fast-growing web development agency.
In the early 2000’s I started a marketing business, learning SEO and other sorts of digital wizardry along the way. I merged the business and grew it successfully, helping hundreds of organisations to achieve their marketing objectives.
But it was the charities and membership organisations that I loved working with most. People who are passionate about causes that matter. I do my best work when I really care about the impact my clients are making.
A few years ago I sold my stake in the business. I wanted to focus my commercial expertise on helping purpose-led businesses and charities to grow sustainably.
And that’s what I do every day now. Well, most days – see below. I particularly love supporting organisations concerned with education, the criminal justice system, nature and the environment.
By working with several organisations at once, I deliver 80% of the value of a full-time marketing director at 20% of the cost, and in 10% of the time. I do this by focusing on high-value activities like increasing revenue, reducing costs, and managing risk, and by avoiding unnecessary meetings and corporate politics.
Initially, I’ll put about one day per week into understanding your organisation and creating immediate impact. Over time, this scales back to 1-3 days per month. My flexible, cost-effective approach ensures strategic clarity, sustainable growth, and trusted, long-term partnerships. With 30+ years of expertise and insights from many sectors and organisations, I offer a precise, results-driven approach that delivers significant value without the overhead of a full-time hire.
And when I’m not in the office?
