How we’ll work together
Initially, I’ll work intensively with you and your team to deliver the plans and create immediate impact.
Every time your team meets with me they’ll come away with ideas they can implement immediately. These often benefit areas other than just marketing. We’ll work at pace, agreeing tasks and staying accountable. I’m available between meetings by email and WhatsApp.
By working with several organisations at once, I deliver 80% of the value of a full-time marketing director at 20% of the cost, and 10% of the time. I do this by focusing on high-value activities and avoiding unnecessary meetings and corporate politics.
Over time, I’ll scale back to 1-3 days per month. The most effective rhythm is often:
- Monthly board-level meetings to review last month’s stats, successes and learnings, and get up-to-date on changes in the business. We’ll agree the next month’s strategic priorities, operational tasks, responsibilities, and risks.
- Weekly or fortnightly meetings with the team. This means consistent director-level marketing expertise, supporting them to:
- Stay on task, and stay accountable
- Get productive, and play to their strengths
- Build velocity, and their own skills
Alongside this, I provide ongoing expert input and guidance for tasks such as:
- choosing, setting up and using digital systems
- data analysis, reporting and insights
- setting up and using templates (such as marketing programme plans, and content calendars)
- contributing to & reviewing presentations, policies and procedures
- sourcing and managing technical partners

Case study
Groundwork, a federation of trusts operating across England and Wales, asked me to help build the national marketing strategy and plan for their Green Doctor service.
Green Doctor provides energy-saving advice and practical help for Housing Associations and Local Authorities. Many of Groundwork’s local trusts deliver Green Doctor but its national footprint was in its infancy.
The marketing strategy was to target managers in Groundwork’s existing network of housing associations and local authorities, inviting them to attend lunchtime thought-leadership webinars. There were two parts to the setup phase:
- Retiring Green Doctor content from 15-20 local trust websites and creating a new national Green Doctor area on Groundwork’s national website. This required diplomacy and internal communication, and took some months to complete.
- Planning the webinar series. This includes inviting Groundwork’s Green Doctor experts to speak, setting up and creating content for paid and organic social media ads and email marketing content.
The pilot delivered 25 high-quality new enquiries over an 8-month period.
